The purpose of the Media Center is to implement, enrich, and support the educational program of the school. It is the duty of the center to provide a wide range of materials on different levels of difficulty, with a diversity of appeal, and representing different points of view. Students are taught library skills, location of books by author, and take quizzes for reading comprehension. Each student in Kindergarten through 5th grade comes to the library on a weekly basis. Total Volumes: 8,987 Loan Period Skycrest uses library management software by Follett for our check-out and card catalogue system. Students in grades K5-2nd can check out one book per week. Students in grades 3rd-8th can check out two books per week. Overdue Books We want to encourage students to develop good library habits without causing overwhelming burdens for the younger students. There are no fines for overdue books. In the event that a book is lost or damaged, a fee of $10 is charged to the student. Computer Use The Media Center contains 10 student computers. Students are welcome to come to the Media Center before, between, or after classes to work on student assignments. While using the computers in the Media Center, students must conform to Skycrest's acceptable computer use policy. Rules and Procedures
